“If you asked me in 2001 what I wanted to be when I was older, the response that year was “wedding planner”, thanks to a certain iconic rom-com of the same name.

Today, I can vividly remember the scent of Glow by JLo. When bold necklaces and chunky belts were a thing. Before there was such a thing as a digital footprint, we lived a little more unconsciously.

It was a simpler time. Though we didn’t know it then.

Throughout my early childhood in the 90s, my Dad was always following my brothers, sister and I around with a handheld camcorder (tape of course).

When we finally sat down to watch the tapes back a few years ago, the nostalgia was unreal!

I’ve always loved cinema, and have spent the last 10 years making films for a living.

But back when we didn’t have infinite storage, immediate playback, and live-monitoring on a screen available to us, people like my Dad and a generation of iconic filmmakers were spontaneous in their storytelling.

And importantly, what they captured, they discovered weeks later when the film was developed. In my family’s case, it was 20 years later, and what a treasure trove it was!

I wanted to re-create this exact spontaneous feeling with The Wedding Recorder. So that the milestones in our lives can be captured and remembered, just like in the movies.”
